Session 1258, Minutes Page 20
September 22, 1980

Mr. Lieberman asked that the administrative staff furnish more information to the
Council in connection with Proposition No. 5 (the "Hancock Amendment") which is on
the Missouri ballot in November. He felt the Council will want to oppose that
amendment, since it places constitutional limits on fees, licenses, etc. which lo-
cal governments may levy.

MISCELLANEOUS

Mr. Ollendorff said the calendar is about to go to the printer, but he wished to
get Council's permission to change two council meeting dates for 1981. December 21
(Hannukah) was changed to December 14, and October 12 (Sukkoth) was changed to Octo-
ber 5~ Council approved those changes.

Mr. Sabol said he felt that those who request special permits should appear before
the Council when their requests come up, and that the Council should not grant ap-
proval unless a representative is present. Several other councilmembers felt that,
in many cases, that is not necessary.

Mrs. Thompson, liaison to the University City Commission on Human Relations, said the
Commission has asked fo~ ideas and assistance in helping to integrate newly-arrived
Indo-Chinese refugees and others into the community and the school system. The Com-
mission is concerned that this be done as thoroughly as possible so that small prob-
lems do not grow into large ones.

ADJOUtNMENT

Mr. Kelley moved that the meeting be adjourned. Mrs. Metcalfe seconded the motion,
which carried unanimously. Mayor Mooney adjourned the meeting at 11:50 P.M.

Dolores A. Miller
City Clerk
