Michael King

Pause to observe a moment of silence to mourn the death of our Police Sgt. Michael King
who was shot and killed in the line of duty while sitting in a police vehicle in the area of
Delmar and Leland, at about 10:20 pm, Friday, October 31, 2008. Sgt. Michael King was 50
years old and he honorably and loyally served our City for half of his life (25 yrs). He served
faithfully as the Police Department’s representative to the Traffic Commission. Sgt. King
leaves to mourn a loving wife and parents. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family at this
difficult time.

2. Restrict parking on one side of Northmoor Dr, from 7045 to 7117 and Asbury Ave to
the west city limit.

Please find attached a traffic request submitted by Tobey Tung, resident at 7247 Northmoor
Dr, on September 18, 2008, requesting that parking be restricted on one side of Northmoor
to allow buses, ambulances and fire trucks to travel on Northmoor Dr.

Ms. Tung states that the neighbors are concerned that emergency vehicles cannot get
through when vehicles are parked on both sides of the street.

This same request was made by Deputy Fire Chief Donald Miner, with the University City
Fire Department. The request was presented to the commission at meetings held on June
13, 2007 and July 11, 2007. The Fire Department requested that parking be prohibited on
one side of Northmoor from Big Bend west to the city limit. The Sanitation Division of the
Public Works Department has reported that it is extremely difficult for the trash trucks to
navigate along Northmoor. The Public Works Street Division has reported that it is difficult
for snow plowing when cars are parked on both sides of the street.

These are the comments from last year’s meetings:

Agenda Traffic Commission Meeting October 8, 2008 Page
1
