Please call 505-
8568 to confirm your attendance.

AGENDA FOR THE MEETING

1. Request to remove parking restriction on south side of Forsyth Blvd from Big Bend
Blvd to Asbury Ave.

The City’s traffic engineering firm, Crawford, Bunte and Brammeier (CBB) presented to the City
Ward 1 Council members a final report with recommendations on whether or not to remove the
existing on-street rush hour parking restriction on Forsyth Boulevard between Del-Lin Drive and
Big Bend Boulevard during peak hours and also a recommendation regarding implementing a
resident only parking restriction in this area.

A letter with the findings (attached) was sent to the Traffic Commission and to the residents of
the 7000 and 7100 blocks of Forsyth Blvd on August 21, 2009.

Councilmembers Terry Crow and Bob Wagner support the removal of the AM/PM parking restriction
on the south side of Forsyth between Big Bend and Asbury after Highway 40 reopens (attached
memo from Concilmembers dated 8/25/09).

This is for the Traffic Commission to vote on their recommendation based on the options provided.

2. Request to install a “No Parking” sign at the vacated alley behind 1064 North and
South Dr.

Please find attached Traffic request form submitted on June 30, 2009 by Mr. James Shemwell,
resident at 1064 North & South Rd. Mr. Shemwell is requesting for a No Parking sign to be
installed on the alley behind his property for him to be able to access his garage.

Below is a picture of the area in question. Note that Mr. Shemwell makes reference to an alley
that was vacated to the adjacent property owners in 1994 and therefore, it is considered private
property.

Currently, half of this area belongs to the property owner at 7572 Drexel and he uses it as a
parking area. The other half belongs to the property owner at 7580 Drexel and to Mr. Shemwell.
Because this area is private property and because there is a big tree and a utility pole, Mr.
Shemwell cannot access his garage from Drexel Ave.

Traffic Commission Agenda – September 9, 2009, Page 1
