<br /> <br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, MO 63130 <br />Phone: 314-505-8560, Fax: (314) 862-0694 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MINUTES OF THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />December, 10, 2008 <br />EOC Room, Basement City Hall – City of University City <br /> <br />Stefany Brot called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Those members present were: <br /> <br /> <br /> Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br /> <br /> Morton Hyman <br /> <br /> Stefany Brot <br /> <br /> Paulette Smith <br /> <br /> Hyla Bondareff <br /> <br /> Officer Shawn Margul, (Police Representative) <br /> <br /> Vic Lusher (Public Works Department) <br /> <br />The following residents and property owners were present: <br />Rita & Bernard Clemons – 8012 Canton <br />Hazel Dent – 8016 Canton <br /> <br /> <br />1. Traffic Commission Recommendations to Council Procedures <br /> <br />Traffic Commissioners will consider changing their procedure to present bills to the City Council <br />prior to the approval of the Traffic Commission meeting minutes. <br /> <br />There was a short discussion and clarification that this procedure is only after the Traffic <br />Commission approves a traffic request – then information or bill will be presented to the City <br />Council at the next possible council meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Smith presented the motion in favor of this change in procedure to be the same <br />as other commissions. The motion carried and was unanimously approved. <br /> <br /> <br />2. Request for a stop sign on Canton at Mendell <br /> <br />Please find attached a traffic request submitted by Rita Clemons, resident at 8012 Canton. She <br />is requesting that a stop sign be placed on Canton at Mendell to control speeders along Canton. <br /> <br />Officer Shawn Margul presented the results from the request to monitor speeds on Canton. A <br />chart that showed the date, location, speed, hours spent monitoring this location, # of <br />summonses, and the patrolling officer (see enclosed copy). He recommended a stop sign at this <br />location due to the number of cars that were speeding and the number of cars using this as a cut <br />through. <br /> <br />Rita Clemons at 8012 Canton Ave. stated that she can not get out of her driveway due to <br />speeders and at night there is even more speeding. <br />Minutes – December 10, 2008 Page <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
