Request for a Parking Restriction on the east side of Melville north of Kingsbury Blvd
during the construction of the Centennial Greenway.

Commissioner Henderson presented this item and explained that the construction of the
Centennial Greenway on Melville Avenue from Kingsbury Avenue to Delmar Blvd started on
October 1, 2010, and is scheduled to be completed for this section of the trail by December 2010.
Once the improvements are completed at the intersection of Kingsbury Avenue and Melville
Avenue, the Parkview subdivision will be accessible through Kingsbury Avenue. If Kingsbury
Avenue is opened to traffic to enter the subdivision, parking restriction on Melville will not be
necessary.

David Whiteman representing the Parkview Subdivision stated that the agents of this subdivision
are not in support of the request to restrict parking on the east side of Melville Avenue and to turn it
to a two-way traffic. Mr. Whiteman agrees that the contractor should complete the Kingsbury
intersection as soon as possible, so it can be reopened to improve access to the subdivision
residents.

Patrick Owens from Great Rivers Greenway, Project Manager of the Centennial Greenway Project
on Melville Avenue explained that significant progress has been made on this construction and
traffic has been discussed thoroughly. He explained that this project removes parking from the
Traffic Commission Minutes – December 8, 2010 Page 1
