Regular Meeting of the Park Commission City of University City April 26, 2011 Centennial Commons, 7210 Olive Blvd. President John Sweeney called the meeting to order at 6:33 pm. Other members present were: Karen Dille (arrived at 6:38 pm) Ewald Winker, Interim Director William Field Lynda Euell-Taylor, Recreation Superintendent Linda Peoples Lynn Ricci, Council Liaison Caryn St. Clair Excused Absence: Gwendolyn Gaines-Beckwith, Karen Palmer Disposition of Minutes from March 22, 2011 Minutes reviewed. Ms. St. Clair moved to approve minutes with corrections, Mr. Field seconded. Vote taken: all approved. Citizen’s comments on items not on Agenda – None Parkview Gardens Sustainability Plan - Nancy MacCartney Ms. MacCartney gave an overview of the Parkview Gardens Sustainability Plan. It was noted that Community Development Director Andrea Riganti and Deputy Director Raymond Lei are the City’s liaisons on this project. Department Report Mr. Winker reported on the following: At April 25th Council meeting, both Junior and Senior rates and purchase of new mowing tractor were  approved. Contract has been signed with SWT Design for design and construction of Flynn Park Playground. Kick  off meeting to be scheduled with the principals; school, parents and park representatives Golf Course Committee – 2 meetings so far. Brainstorming, discussion and survey developed. We will  be going over the survey results tomorrow evening and make recommendations to the City Manager. The committee consists of golfers, neighbors; a balanced group of both pro and anti golf range opinions. They all care about the course; but have different visions. Very tough coming to a compromise; City Manager would have liked them being the ones to make the decisions on the issues th of safety, parking, lighting and netting along #7 fairway. We will know more after our April 27 meeting and hopefully be able to make recommendations to City Manager.
