MCKNTGHT <br /> <br />The City Manager rec~=~nded approval of a license to sell beer and wine by <br />the package at retail at the Central Trading Company, 920 N. McKnight. The <br />business has ope/-ated in an aoc~ptable manner for nearly 10 years, he said, <br />and the owner has had experience elsewhere in enforcing liquor license laws. <br /> <br />Mrs. schuman moved approval, with Mrs. Th~,~son seconding the motion. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer asked the approximate squ~e footage of this business, and Mr. <br />Ollendorff said he would send that information to Council. Responding to Mr. <br />schoomer, Mr. Ollendorff said he did not know how much space would be devoted <br />to the sale of liquor. Mr. Schoomer moved to table until the next meeting. <br />Mr. Wagner seconded the motion, which (~rried unanimously. <br /> <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCREDITATION STUDY <br /> <br />~e City Manager recc~=~nded approval of an $11,000 fee to the Co~ssion on <br />Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies for a professional analysis of the <br />city's Police Department. He said the C~ssion was organized by the Inter- <br />national Association of Police ~hiefs and the National Organization of Black <br />Law Enforcement officers. The City's goal is to become the first nationally <br />accredited law enforcement agency in St. Louis County. The 18-month process <br />begins with an internal self-analysis of the Department to be managed by Depu- <br />ty Chief Lee Payne, Captain John Dennis, and Officer Glenn Duncan. The re- <br />sults will be reviewed by the professional staff of the Cu~,,,~ssion and there <br />will be on-site visits by a team of ].aw enforcement e~perts from across the <br />country. Mr. Ollendorff said he and incoming Police Chief Stanley Topper be- <br />lieve that participation in the program will lead to even greater increases in <br />the professionalism of University City's Police Department and improved abili- <br />ty to meet citizens' needs. <br /> <br />Mr. Adams moved approval, with Mr. Wag~_r seconding the motion.
