VERSION 1

Mr. Paulus encouraged the Council to maintain one of University City's last standing
cultural resources.

COUNCIL COMMENTS
Ms. Brot asked to obtain the Council’s approval for asking Ms. Feier to proceed with
preparing an ordinance incorporating a lease for the Sutter-Meyer Society. Ms. Brot and
Mr. Price directed the City Manager to negotiate a preliminary contract with the Sutter-
Meyer Society for a lease. The Council agreed that there was no conflict of interest for Ms.
Ricci to participate and vote on any Sutter-Meyer motions. Ms. Ricci expressed her
approval to request the City Manager to proceed with drafting a lease for the Sutter-Meyer
Society in renting the historic farmhouse. With Ms. Ricci’s approval, a majority agreed to
have this process begin.

Mr. Price asked Ms. Rachel Watson, Student Representative, why youths use the City
streets as their recreational area or walking on the streets when sidewalks existed. He
also inquired about the lack of sport activities for children fourteen and over. Ms. Brot
asked Ms. Watson to bring back student comments on activities in which they would like to
have available.

Ms. Brot talked about the Arts & Letters photo show’s success and the sculpture series
locations around the City. She said the Arts and Letters Commission will not be able to
present as many concerts this year due to budget constraints and encouraged any
monetary donations. Ms. Brot also encouraged everyone to write Congress on the
minimum wage bill and how it negatively affects Cities with police and fire protection. Ms.
Brot encouraged Council to present a report on what they learned from their travel to State
and Federal Conferences. In this way, the Council can share the highlights of what was
learned. Ms. Brot invited all to the Spring Festival on May 6 at the Green Center.

Mr. Glickert asked the Park’s Department to develop more local use of University City’s
fields for baseball.

Mr. Sharpe, Jr. asked if the City could assist in helping students find summer jobs.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.

Joyce Pumm, City Clerk
