Session 1837
April 22, 2002

Pete's store from his back window. He believes the Pete's store will be an asset to the
neighborhood. He is in favor of the liquor license.

Carol Horth, 1135 Burch, is mostly concerned about litter. She is pleased that Pete's is
now in that location and that it is not a vacant building. She is concerned that people
will buy their liquor at Pete's and then drive down her dead-end street to consume it and
leave the refuse on her street. She is opposed to the liquor license.

Marco Thompson, 1131 Burch, is his neighborhood association president is opposed to
the liquor license. Litter is his neighborhood's biggest concern.

William Offer, 7335 Wellington, said that he is opposed to the liquor license. He
believes the presence of liquor will exacerbate the problems at the apartment complex
located diagonally across the street, which he believes the Police will vouch for. He
thinks Pete's will be a good asset as a grocery store only.

Kathy Williams, is the architect for the Pete Shur Sav market and was hired to submit an
amended site plan. The work is currently out to bid to three very reputable landscape
firms currently. The asphalt work for the parking lot and other changes are also being
bid by three reputable firms. Bids are due back on the 29th, at which point she will sit
down with Mr. Sarandos and discuss his options and determine the best way for
construction to proceed. She claims that in spite of a recession contractors are very
busy, which will be the biggest deterrent in getting the work performed quickly. She
can't guarantee that the construction will be completed by November 1. This may get
planted the following spring. They have also been retained by a brother to do some
renovations to the Vernon store, which just happened recently. She believes that the
Council can be assured that the applicants are doing everything in their power to follow
through with their commitment.

Rosalyn Borg, 7820 Cornell, is in favor of the liquor license. If the City is concerned
with trash and mess, they should concentrate their efforts on the U. City Loop, which is
extremely trashy and dirty.

The question was called. The motion to approve carried unanimously.

CITIZEN COMMENTS:

Jay Bordeaux, Charter Communications - Government Relations Manager, 5240
Oakland Ave., extended his congratulations to the newly elected. He is here tonight to
address the Council concerning the technical upgrades of their service plant. They
believe this upgrade will improve service complaints.

Randy Gentry, 4344 Sanabel, Charter Communications, is in charge of the plant
upgrades which will involve replacing twenty year old cable infrastructure by overlaying
