Session 1845
July 1,2002

starting point. They wish to inform the public that the additional five percent increase
that Mr. Ollendorff has presented as part of this year's overall pay increase is a natural
step increase already built into our pay scales. It will only apply to officer's that have
less than five years experience. The 6% increase does not begin to bring this
department in line with other departments who handles less calls per service and less
violent crimes. They will be negotiating with Mr. Ollendorff in the next fiscal year a more
substantial pay raise, which should include better benefits. The association's statistics
are not lies and are referenced directly from the St. Louis County Fact Book.

Marc Merbaum, 1063 Midland, stated that he was here to talk about proposing changes
to the Recreation Center. He thinks that it is important to have a place in the community
for the residents to go for exercise and to socialize. Mayor Adams said that we are
looking at some modifications to the Recreation Facility.

CITY CLERK'S DOCKET:

BILLS FOR SECOND AND THIRD READING:

BILL NO. 8589 - AMENDING CHAPTER 2.64 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY
MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE NONUNIFORMED EMPLOYEES
RETIREMENT SYSTEM, BY REPEALING SECTION 2.64.090 THEREOF,
RELATING TO NORMAL SERVICE RETIREMENT, AND ENACTING IN LIEU
THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 2.64.090 NORMAL
SERVICE RETIREMENT," THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS TO
INCREASE THE PENSION OF PARTICIPANTS WHO TERMINATED ON OR
AFTER JULY 1,2002.

The bill was given its second reading.
The bill was given its third reading.

Mr. Sharpe moved adoption.
