Session 1849
August 12, 2002

aren't here to try and change the zoning, but they may attempt to go through the
appropriate channels to try and do this. The residents are opposed to any open type
business, including automotive. Property values are soaring and he feels that this
conditional use for a discount Meineke muffler store will not promote community welfare
or convenience. He respectfully requests that the Council deny this conditional use
permit.

Nancy Bowser, 8050 Teasdale, is opposed to this measure. She does not believe that
any proposal should be approved just because it meets the minimum zoning
requirements. The Comprehensive Plan puts great emphasis on maintaining quality of
residential life. This proposal will not maintain the quality of life. She requests that the
Council deny this proposal. This proposal will in the long run negatively effect property
values and thus revenue.

Ralph Bowser, 8050 Teasdale, stated that he was opposed to this proposal. The
zoning code calls for services to be provided to be needed. The residents do not need
this service. It also does not constitute or promote community welfare. The City
already has petitions representing 300 adults or 10% of residents in this immediate
area. He wants to know why no one is listening. This business may be gone in a few
months if their bottom line isn't healthy. Them is no commitment to the community, only
to money. He requests that the Council deny this proposal.

Fred Niederman, 8063 Teasdale, stated that he was opposed to this proposal. He
thanked the Mayor and City Council for responding to his letter. He doesn't believe it is
fair to the developer to ask him to spend more money for extra development work for a
project that the residents do not want to happen in any case. This corner is used by
synagogue attendees who are pedestrians and this proposal causes significant safety
hazards to them. He requests a denial by Council.

Jane Eckert, 8054 Teasdale, stated that she was opposed to this proposal. She does
not believe that this development will contribute to and promote the community welfare
and convenience.

Jeffrey Bassin, 8037 Teasdale, stated that he is opposed to this measure. He can not
see how a franchised discount muffler shop can promote positively the quality
community values. These values must be protected. There are plenty of these types of
businesses in this region and we do not need one here. He asked the Council to vote
and deny this conditional use permit.

Bill Kuehl, 8055 Teasdale, stated that he was opposed to this proposal. He has
concerns that this conditional use will negatively affect property values. He wonders
how the revenue generated from this business will relate to the drop in property values.
He also believes that there are definite safety concerns with the pedestrians walking to
and from synagogue.
