Session 1863 <br />December 16, 2002 <br /> <br />Tax Increment Finance Commission and to Mr. Steve Palley, Historic Preservation <br />Commission. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS: <br /> <br />AGENDA #1 - Consent Calendar: <br /> <br />1 - Shaftesbury Avenue Bri~qe Engineering Services: Mr. Ollendorff recommended that <br />the Council approve an engineering services contract with AFRAM for the design of the <br />Shaftesbury Avenue Bridge replacement project, a federal aid project. He stated that <br />this firm met federal, state, and city requirements for experience and qualifications and <br />had provided acceptable service to University City on a similar project. The budget cap <br />for all services related to engineering and inspection was set at $225,300 with a design <br />cost ceiling of $145,905. Mr. Ollendorff noted that following Council's approval, <br />University City would have to wait for state approval of this contract before the work can <br />begin. <br /> <br />2 - Tree Pruning Contract: The City Manager informed the Council that bids for pruning <br />364 city trees had been received. Invitations to bid were sent to nine companies and <br />four proposals were returned. No minority or woman owned businesses responded. <br /> The bids were: <br /> <br />Gamma Tree Service <br />Ray's Tree Service, Inc. <br />T&L Tree Service <br />Omni Tree <br /> <br />$16,179.80 <br />$17,835.00 <br />$19,292.00 <br />$19,430.00 <br /> <br />He recommended awarding the contract to Gamma Tree Service for their Iow bid of <br />$16,179.80. <br /> <br />The motion to accept the Consent Calendar was made by Councilmember Munkel, <br />seconded by Councilmember Colquitt and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />AGENDA #2 PUBLIC HEARING - HEMAN PARK POOL AND RECREATION <br /> <br />FACILITIES: <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff stated that the Council called for a Public Hearing to invite citizen input on <br />improvements to the swimming pool and recreation facilities in Heman Park. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams declared the Public hearing open at 7:35 P.M. <br /> <br />Rosalyn Borg, 7820 Cornell, Avenue, presented her opinion about inadequacies of the <br />existing exercise facility: <br /> <br /> 1. too small and cramped <br /> <br /> <br />
