2. Year 2008 City Calendar
The City Manager Julie Feier made note of suggestions Councilmembers made during
their Study Session: the elimination of two regular Council meeting dates due to
potential conflicts with some Councilmembers’ planned commitments to attend out-of-
town conferences. The two dates to be eliminated on the 2008 University City calendar
were March 11 and September 08 of 2008. Ms. Feier also noted that she would like to
have the per-sticker price for bags of yard waste reflect an increase from $1.00 to $1.50
each, listed in the back of the calendar under the heading Leaf and Yard Waste
Collection. The other area under this heading was the free yard waste pickup during a
specified time period. Ms. Feier stated that the Council had talked about eliminating this
but it had not been taken out of the draft 2008 calendar.

Ms. Brot moved to accept the 2008 calendar with the change of yard waste sticker price
from $1.00 to $1.50 and the removal of March 11 and September 08 Council meeting
dates. The motion was seconded by Mr. Glickert and was approved unanimously.

Mr. Glickert requested the City Manager increase the number of places where residents
may purchase these yard waste stickers and publicize these establishments. City
Manager Julie Feier said that the places of business will be added to the calendar and
incentives will be offered to businesses in an effort to make the stickers more available.

Ms. Ricci requested that the Arts and Letters Commission require all calendar photos be
of University City only, since it is University City’s calendar. Previously, when Ms. Brot,
as Council’s liaison to the Arts and Letters Commission, had made that suggestion, the
commission had rejected it, saying that traditionally, this commission had selected the
best photos appropriate for the calendar from its photo show; thus, she felt such a
change needed Council’s mandate to be passed on to the Arts & Letters Commission.

Mr. Sharpe, Jr. moved to recommend to the Arts & Letters Commission, that all
University City calendars photo shots in some way relate only to University City for all
future calendars. This motion was seconded by Ms. Ricci and was approved
unanimously.

J. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. BILL 8959 —
An ordinance approving a settlement agreement with Verizon wireless
and assigning a percentage of the settlement proceeds to the St. Louis County
Municipal League.

Mayor Adams requested postponement of this bill until the next Council meeting. He
stated that St. Louis County Municipal League will be arranging a meeting on October
24, 2007, to discuss the assignment to St. Louis County Municipal League section
included in this bill.

K.
