Mr. Sharpe, Jr., in following up on Ms. Ricci’s comment of neighbors working together,
stated that he was aware of a neighborhood which would purchase a home for sale in
order to preserve their neighborhood.
Ms. Brot stated that she would work in behalf with the West Moreland Place for single
family housing. Secondly Ms. Brot said she was shocked that the Missouri State
Department of Revenue has informed cities that they have not charged the allowable
three percent collection fees on state sales tax for motor vehicles or any increase in
motor vehicle fees. Now the state is saying that cities need to pay them back from July
2005 to the present for this fee. She said that the Missouri Municipal League is
reviewing this legality. She explained that this is why it is important to have the St. Louis
County Municipal League and the Missouri Municipal League lobby in support of all
cities it oversees. Lastly she suggested that she would like to see a MetroLink station in
University City’s quadrant at Olive and Interstate 170, which Olivette stated it did not
support on their quadrant. She encouraged the City Manager and Council to fully
support future MetroLink stations on the I170 corridor.
Mayor Adams stated that you cannot pass legislation to prevent anyone from purchasing
homes. He said that it will not and has not held up in our legal system. The only control
University City has is through zoning. What is needed is to convince neighbors not to
sell their house to Washington University.
Future meetings for Council were:
December 10, 2007, meeting with the University City School Administration
January 15, 2008, Study and Regular
January 28, 2008, Study and Regular
Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. Ms. Ricci moved to go into executive session for
RSMo 610.021, (1) and (2) legal and real estate, was seconded by Mr. Glickert and
approved unanimously.
Joyce Pumm
City Clerk
