David Rubin, 1039 Chartres Ave.
Mr. Rubin felt that the proposed driving range was put together too hastily therefore, it
was not well thought out. He questioned the decisions based on who the experts were.
William Field, 7152 Kingsbury
Mr. Field said the proposed driving range was a bad risk, a bad location, a bad design
and the City can not afford it. He felt that Ms. MacCartney did not address the points of
elevation and protection adequately.
Mr. Acme Price, 8236 Balson
Mr. Price said he had previously been on boards that studied possible driving range
locations and felt that approval of this proposal would be a great financial mistake. He
wanted to know how the cost-overrun would be managed.
Dr. Ethan Schuman, 8258 Groby
Dr. Schuman felt that the driving range was too big of a financial risk to be considered.
Kay Drey, 515 West Point Ave
Ms. Drey felt the proposed driving range would destroy the natural habitat and beauty of
Ruth Park.
Jane Bruss, 2916 Hilldale Ave,
Ms. Bruss was a resident of Brentwood, MO. She submitted photographs that she took
of the golf course and interviewed a few golfers on the course this day. They all talked
of the beauty they enjoyed at the golf course. She ended with saying “Measure and
survey twice before you cut.”
Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel
Ms. Glickert was astounded that this item was on the consent agenda. She felt the golf
course was never publicized in order to increase its revenue. Ms. Glickert thought the
$30,000 given by Clayton was not near the value Clayton would derive from it. Ms.
Glickert suggested giving all new residents in Parkview Gardens a free golf pass as an
introduction of the facility for future use.
Tom Engelhardt, 7830 Lafon Pl
Mr. Engelhardt said he was not a golfer but was present to defend the natural beauty
and trees of Ruth Park and did not want to see this changed or destroyed. He also
questioned the financing of the project.
Dolly Dalgleish Carigo, 553 Mapleview Dr
Ms. Darigo did not want to see the loss of the natural beauty and habitat present in the
area planned for the driving range.
Herschel Raskas, 722 Brittany Lane
Mr. Raskas felt there were other avenues to increase revenue than to put in a driving
range at Ruth Park.
