Session 1869 <br />February 24, 2003 <br /> <br /> Feld Chevrolet $268.230 $60,000 $208,230 <br /> Don Brown Chevrolet $261,720 $63,400 $198,320 <br /> <br />The Acting City Manager recommended purchasing the vehicles from Auffenberg <br />Chevrolet for their Iow bid of $196,910, which was within budget estimates. <br /> <br />A motion to accept the Consent Calendar was made by Ms. Colquitt, seconded <br />by Mr. Munkel and carried. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM # 2 - PUBLIC HEARING - HEMAN PARK RECREATION <br /> <br />FACILITIES EXPANSION: <br /> <br />Mr. Norfleet stated that the City Council set aside this time as one of many <br />opportunities for citizens to express their point of view on renovating and <br />expanding Heman Park Recreation facilities. Following citizen approval of <br />Proposition K, the City Council called for making every effort to obtain significant <br />participation from citizens prior to final design decisions. Citizen input was <br />encouraged for consideration at the Proposition K Committee and Park <br />Commission meetings as well as at numerous forums and through the U. City <br />website survey. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams then declared the Public Hearing open. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner clarified that the topic for the hearing was Proposition K <br />disbursements. <br /> <br />Mary Hart, 6901 Cornell Avenue, commended Linda Euell-Taylor for her role in <br />the preparation of the teen survey. The plan was to send the final draft of the <br />survey to both private and public schools in University City the following week. <br />She distributed sign up sheets for focus group participation and survey forms and <br />encourage those present to distribute surveys as well. <br /> <br />Mr. Lieberman asked if any conclusions could be draw from the pilot. Ms. Hart <br />said that the sampling was very small but the most popular requests were for <br />basketball, slides for the pool, renting the space for parties, etc. There were also <br />several suggestions for the fitness center i.e. free weights and separating the <br />weight room from exercise rooms. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner asked her to announce the time and location of the next Prop K <br />meeting; it will be Tuesday, March 4 at 6:30 at Heman Park Community Center. <br /> <br />Mr. Richard Dockett, 6844 Crest Avenue, thanked Mr. Wagner for recruiting <br />citizen involvement. He commended Ms. Welsch for a statement she made at an <br />earlier Council meeting about including the middle class considerations. He <br />expressed his objections to a recent decision by law enforcement to tolerate <br />youth recreation activities in the street when there are plans for improvements on <br /> <br /> <br />
