Session 1881 <br />May 5, 2003 <br /> residential going into this location. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams declared the hearing closed at 7:45 p.m. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM # 4 Budqet Public Hearinq: <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff announced that time has been set aside to hear public comments <br />prior to Council consideration of the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, <br />2003. He stated that comments were welcomed that evening, at the second <br />public hearing May 19 or in writing until that date. He stated that final budget <br />decisions would be made in June following consideration of proposed budgets <br />and public comments and that another Public Hearing would be held on May 19, <br />2003. <br /> <br />The Budget Public Hearing was declared opened by Mayor Adams at 7:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Joe Edwards, 6309 McPhersonn, commended Lehman Walker, Director of <br />Planning, on behalf of the Loop Special District for his work with CDG on street <br />lighting improvements. He asked the Council to consider allocating monies for <br />the project this year, and if that wasn't possible, to place it in the five year Capital <br />Improvement Plan. <br /> <br />Mrs. Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel Avenue, recommended window coverings and <br />loud-speakers for the Council Chambers. She offered a suggestion that each <br />member of the commission be given a pass for the month of June, as a special <br />promotion; she maintained that they would purchase family passes in July, after <br />enjoying the freebie. She also requested an upgrade of the lighting in the <br />parking lot of the swimming pool. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams declared the Budget Public Hearing closed at 7:55 p.m. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM # 5 Fitness Center Phase I Baseline Expansion: <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the floor plans for the first phase of the fitness <br />center expansion at the Heman Park Recreation Facility had been submitted to <br />the Park Commission and City Council for review. He advised the Council that <br />the Park Commission was in favor of the plan subject to adequate machine <br />spacing, appropriate weight room flooring and provision of video. Mr. Ollendorff <br />requested the Council's input that evening as staff endeavored to develop more <br />detailed drawings in order to request bids in June. <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch inquired if the provision of video would include earphones for users. <br />He replied that it would.
