Session 1889 <br />June 23, 2003 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM # 8 - COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT APPLICATION: <br /> <br />The City Manager recommended approval of the application for Community <br />Development Block Grant funds for 2004. Projects tentatively listed for funding were: <br /> <br />Public Service <br /> Parkview Gardens <br /> U. City North <br />Food for Homeless-all eligible <br />Code Enforcement <br /> Parkview Gardens <br /> U. City North <br />Trees, Forestry <br /> Parkview Gardens <br /> U. City North <br />Private property rehab - citywide <br />Litter Containers-North Central <br /> <br />$17,000 <br />$17,000 <br /> 4,000 <br /> <br />10,000 <br />20,000 <br /> <br /> 5,000 <br />30,000 <br />10,888 <br /> 1,000 <br /> <br />He stated that the amount for which University City was eligible to apply was only <br />$114,888. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved to approve the application. Mr. Sharpe seconded his motion. <br /> <br />Joan Botwinick, 511 Westview Drive, said that she supported the increase in the <br />allocation for food for homeless from $3000 to $4000. She asked for an explanation of <br />the change in allocation for rehabilitation from $18,888.00 to $10,888.00. Mr. Ollendorff <br />promised to get the information to her. <br /> <br />Mr. Munkel noted that the availability of monies from other sources might account for <br />the change. <br /> <br />John Cross, 6847 Raymond Avenue, had photographs distributed and requested <br />resolution of problems at a bridge on his street where children now play. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe requested that the City Manager and staff examine the situation at <br />Raymond and Purcell and report back to the Council with recommended solutions. <br /> <br />Mr. Munkel stated that the barrier on the bridge was inadequate and noted the <br />deterioration on the retaining wall. He suggested temporary screening to protect <br />children from falling and supported Mr. Sharpe's request. <br /> <br />Shirley Richman, 840 Oakbrook Lane, thanked Council for the increase in their grant to <br />$4OOO. <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
