Session 1890
July 1, 2003

Mr. Wagner said that the ramp would only be a problem then depending on the
number of lifeguards we have. If we have only one, then it is a danger. If we
have more, then it would not be a danger.

Mayor Adams said that he would not be comfortable, knowing the engineer's
concerns, in designing the ramp down the middle.

Mr. Wagner said that Prop K meets tonight and he will ask them about it. Mr.
Ollendorff responded that Prop K had already looked at it and had no comments
about the location. He asked the Mayor permission to allow one of the Prop K
members attending the meeting to make a comment regarding this issue.

Jen Jensen said that this ramp location was what she had originally wanted in
early concept meetings. With all of her years of experience and what she has
seen in other community pools, this is the ideal ramp for Heman Pool. They
were very happy with it. Her concern was for a teaching area, but it looks like
some of her kids could use a portion of the ramp for kids to sit on. Mr. Wagner
said that the Park Commission's concern was for the kids to be able to have
direct access to the deck and they were afraid that a ramp there would prevent
this from happening. Ms. Jensen said that, in her opinion, it would not affect the
family teaching area. Mr. Wagner said he conceded his argument. He will agree
to the ramp along the wall.

Mr. Ollendorff also wished to report Council on several other smaller changes
suggested by staff, Prop K and the Park Commission. The City Council would
have the final decision.

Prop K asked that the volleyball walkway be relocated so that it does not
interfere with the sunbathing area.

Prop K wants to make sure that there is a wide trench drain across the
path.

Starting blocks require minimum water depth. Lap lanes are too shallow.
Blocks are used for practice purposes. Mr. Ollendorff noted that the
engineers may be able to design more depth and the blocks may be able
to be moved over closer to the lap lanes.

Water slide was designed farther away from the lap lanes. No lap lane
interference.

Raindrop foundation deleted from the plan as requested. There is still a
spray pad by the baby pool.

The eastern boundary of chain link fence will be moved next to the
building. Engineers caution that this may be turned down by the authority

Page 5
