The cost <br />associated with this is $1,334. <br /> <br />Ms. Watson also distributed information detailing the Capital Improvements Department <br />requests. <br />? <br /> Information Technology projected their needs out to 2010 for a total of $360,000. <br />? <br /> Police projected a need in 2011 for $25,000 for a card swipe system. <br />? <br /> Fire department projected their needs to 2013 for a total of $1,480,000. <br />? <br /> Parks department projected their needs to 2013 for a total of $989,750. <br />? <br /> Public Works department projected their needs to 2013 for a total of $10,338,433. <br />? <br /> Public Works projects with grants projected needs to year 2013 for a total of <br />$11,428,513. <br />? <br /> Fleet Maintenance projected to year 2013 for a total amount of $3,490,000. <br /> It was proposed the possibility of extending the life cycle of City vehicles. <br />? <br /> Solid Waste projected to year 2012 with the inclusion of grants for a total of $663,500. <br />? <br /> Economic Development Sales Tax Fund projections for 2008 through 2012 for a total of <br />$1,500,000. <br />? <br /> Also discussed was building a new Public Works facility by year 1911 for a cost of <br />$4,275,000. <br /> <br />The next possibility for means of increasing the City’s funds was to present ballot issues to <br />increase the Economic Development Sales Tax by one-quarter cent generating <br />approximately $570,000. This would bring the City to the maximum allowed under the <br />economic development tax statute. Another increase to tax would be to increase property <br />tax. Property Tax break-out in University City as follows: <br />? <br /> St. Louis County 7.9% <br />? <br /> Community College 2.9% <br />? <br /> Special School District 12.9% <br />? <br /> Metro Zoo 3.3% <br />? <br /> University City Schools 57.4% <br />? <br /> City of University City 10.0% <br />? <br /> Library 3.2% <br />? <br /> Miscellaneous 2.3% <br /> <br />Discussion of raising additional taxes by ballot will be discussed again after time to gather <br />and review information. <br /> <br />The COLA for University City employees were discussed. Indicators showed COLA at this <br />time to be around 4%. The Council agreed to trim this in vision of the City’s financial <br />situation.
