<br />Chaunceia Mayfield, 10740 Page <br />Ms. Mayfield is the Program Director for the emergency shelter. The Family Haven <br />Shelter has supplied 356 bed nights for individuals whose last address was <br />University City. She stated that are in need of continued funding from University City <br />and the surrounding communities. <br /> <br />Claudia Brodie, 7835 Cornell <br />Ms. Brodie is the Advisory Council Chair of the Family Haven Shelter. It takes $51 <br />per bed night to operate and have given 356 bed nights to University City residents. <br />She sated that they are asking for under $10 per bed night for University City <br />residents. <br /> <br />Joan Botwinick, 511 Westview Dr <br />Ms. Botwinick is asking for funds for food for the homeless. In previous years the <br />City allocated $4,000. She stated that Mt. Gideon gives food to homeless children, <br />which is separate from the church affiliation. <br /> <br />Richard Dockett, 6844 Crest Ave. <br />Mr. Dockett was present to encourage the continued allocation to feed the homeless <br />as the Mt. Gideon as he felt charity began at home. <br /> <br />Stefany Brot, 8145 Cornell Ct. <br />Ms. Brot requested that $1,000 be allocated for the Sutter-Meyer Home to repair the <br />historic windows in the house. She stated that it is the oldest standing home in <br />University City that is presently being renovated. Its goal is to make it a museum <br />and educational facility. Secondly Ms. Brot expressed the need for funds for home <br />repair for senior citizens living in the CDBG targeted areas. She felt that expenses <br />associated with carrying out the regular responsibilities of the unit of general <br />government should be ineligible, such as maintenance and repair of streets, parks, <br />and playgrounds or payment of staff salaries. <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Janet Watson stated that the Council approved putting $3,000 in <br />the next year’s University City General Fund budget for Mt. Gideon Feed the Homeless <br />as the CDBG fund does not allow funding to religious organizations as Mr. Gideon. <br /> <br />The Public Hearing was closed at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />2. University City Budget, 2008-2009 Public Hearing was opened at 7:16 p.m. <br />Ms. Watson explained that the FY 09 projection was $48,001,910 for Revenue of <br />All Funds of which the General Fund Revenue was $28,828,560. The FY 09 <br />projection Expenditure of All Funds was $40,448,535 of which the General Fund <br />Expenditure was $28,498,947. She stated that the Council has proposed the <br />following changes: <br />? <br /> The City proposed a 3% cost of living raise for City employees and the <br />Council decided on 2.4% cost of living raise. <br />? <br /> The Council added a fire consolidation study with surrounding cities for <br />$20,000 <br />? <br /> Election cost, if deemed necessary, for $18,000 <br />? <br /> Discussion on hiring a ballot issue consultant for $15,000 <br /> <br />
