County
There will be no municipal/governmental reimbursement because the
threshold based on population was not met
. As a County, including direct
cost to MSD there was not over three million dollars in damage submitted to
SEMA for review. Counties with smaller populations had a lower threshold to
meet and therefore will receive State and Federal reimbursement.
The University Of Missouri Extension office has an excellent flood response
brochure at http://extension.missouri.edu/pdf/YourFloodedHome.pdf We are
printing and it will be distributed with the door hangers when the FEMA
designation is made.
Fuel Contamination Summary
Attached is a more complete prepared by our
Fleet Manager. In summary, the September 14 floodwaters inundated the City’s
Maintenance Complex reaching as far as the refueling area during the crest of
the disaster. At this level, the underground fuel storage tanks were completely
submerged. Although the tanks are designed to be air and liquid tight, a small
quantity of floodwater entered the unleaded fuel tank and settled to the bottom.
Our gasoline storage system is presently being tested to attempt to locate the
source of water entry, and take corrective action. The contaminated gasoline will
be removed, and the tank and lines purged of water and ethanol. The tank will
be refilled with clean gasoline, and the lines again cleared of old fuel. Special
filters will be installed at the pumps that are designed to slow, or stop the delivery
of fuel if high concentrations of ethanol or water are detected should the problem
reoccur. It is hoped our fuel station gasoline pumps will become operational
before the end of this week. The diesel fuel pumps remain unaffected and
available for daily operations.
Mercury for fleet consulting
The initial $26,000 bid from came in the first week of
September and was distributed in your packets. Because we only have $20,000
budgeted, I included a revised fleet bid, for your consideration. Staff has cut $3,960 in
presentation materials from the bid; the current proposal will be $23,760. I would like to
include on your Oct. 27 agenda for approval. To move forward it will require a budget
amendment for an additional $3,760 or I need Council feedback in advance regarding
additional areas to cut.
th
The University City School District will be holding its 4 Community Engagement
th
school facilities
Meetings to discuss the future of on Sat.
