<br />mentoring to enable the production of video programs to enhance the historical, <br />cultural and artistic knowledge and experience of the citizens of the City of <br />University City and of the Greater St. Louis Metropolitan Area. <br />Objectives of CALOP <br />1. To provide grant money to local video producers to create films in a timely <br />manner concerning the cultural, historical, or artistic experience of the City of <br />University City and the greater St. Louis Region to be aired on the Cable <br />networks. <br />2. To provide a method to archive and preserve those CALOP produced films <br />and original footage. <br />3. To expand CALOP’s presence in the City of University City and the Greater <br />St. Louis Region. <br />4. To provide guidance in creating with University City High School an on-going <br />program to introduce and educate students in the film making process. The <br />final goal is that a film capable of being aired by the Cable channels be <br />produced on a yearly basis. <br />5. To be fiscally responsible to the citizens of University City and to seek other <br />funding sources. <br />Recognition was given to City employee Genise Lay, who is their administrator. <br /> <br />Mr. Nichols introduced the Historical Society’s nomination, Ms. Petree Eastman, <br />to head up the planning of the 100 year celebration of the Gates of Opportunity. <br />Ms. Petree Eastman, Assistant City Manager, spoke on the University City Lions’ <br />100 year celebrations in 2009. She presented a handout with the Lion’s history <br />and the calendar of events that will take place from January 2009 through <br />September 2009. The final birthday celebration will culminate, September 12, <br />2009. Proceeds from any of the events will go for the second Gate of <br />Opportunity to be planned for the entrance at Hwy 170 and Olive. <br /> <br />3. Conditional Use Permit for 6300 Delmar, consisting of new retail building with <br />reduced Right-Of-Way setbacks. <br />Mr. Price moved for approval, seconded by Mr. Glickert and was approved <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENT <br />Joe Edwards, 6504 Delmar <br />Mr. Edwards thank the Council for approval. <br /> <br />4. Olive Blvd Design Guideline. <br />Director of Planning and Development Lehman Walker presented Council with a <br />brief synopsis of the development. The issue in front of Council for the evening <br />was approval of a date for a Public Hearing. The guidelines are still under review <br />by the Historic Preservation Commission. The Commission was asked to <br />designate Olive Blvd as an Historical District so it would qualify for funding under <br />the Economic Retail Development Sales Tax. A fairly extensive survey was done <br />through paper and electronic. The Public Hearing will give the public the <br />opportunity to hear a more detailed presentation of the plan. <br />Mr. Price moved that a Public Hearing for the Olive Blvd Design Guidelines be <br />set for January 5, 2009, seconded by Mr. Sharpe, Jr. and was approved <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
