<br />Ms. Ricci asked Mr. Lehman if one of the four districts would receive more <br />attention than the others. Mr. Lehman stated that all of Olive Blvd. needs <br />attention. <br /> <br />The Public Hearing on the above three proposed ordinances was opened at 7:00 <br />p.m. No one was present to speak. The Public Hearing was closed at 7:13 p.m. <br /> <br />H. CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> <br />I. CITY MANAGER’S REPORT <br />1. Arts and Letters Commission representative, Lisa Greening was present to let <br />the Council know of what projects the commission has done and will be doing. <br /> <br />Lisa Greening, 5 Princeton <br />Ms. Greening was present to give the Council an update on projects of the Arts <br />and Letters Commission and wanted to introduce the additional eight of the <br />fifteen commission members that were present, Barbara Santoro, Marilyn <br />Cathcart, Daniel Talonn, Claire Medol Hyman, Julie Bianchi, Regina Raineri and <br />Diane Davenport. Ms. Greening gave the commission’s mission statement : “ to <br />act in an advisory capacity to the City Council on artistic, cultural, and scholarly <br />programs within University City. The Commission is dedicated to promoting the <br />arts and making art publicly visible and accessible to a broad and diverse <br />community audience. The commission is primarily funded by the City. The five <br />major programs it supports are: <br /> <br /> University City Photo Show - Juried photographs are selected to be hung <br />at the Centennial Commons and top winners receive cash awards. All <br />entries are considered for inclusion in the City calendar. <br /> <br /> University City/Washington University Student Sculpture Project – <br />Washington University students compete for the opportunity to design <br />public art for temporary construction in University City <br /> <br /> Returning Artist Program – Since 1994 the Commission annually features <br />artistically renowned graduates of University City High School who return <br />to share their fields of work. This year Eric Mink, writer for Post Dispatch, <br />has been chosen. <br /> <br /> Starlight Concert Series – Provides an array of local jazz and blues artists, <br />during the summer months in Heman Park. Three outdoor movies were a <br />new addition last summer to the Park offerings. <br />Mr. Glickert complimented the commission on the 2009 calendar. <br /> <br />2. Liquor License – China Town Market, 8150 Olive <br />Ms. Ricci asked about the applicant’s statement of being in business for 22 years <br />when his present LLC was just formed in June. She also asked why the Council <br />is just now hearing about it when the applicant applied in August 2008. Mr. <br />Glickert stated that the applicant had previously owned other grocery stores at <br />difference locations. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert moved for approval, seconded by Mr. Wagner and was approved <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
