Special Session 935, Minutes <br />June 23, 1969 <br /> <br />Page 14 <br /> <br />Budget, continued: <br /> <br />On Page C-63 Gasoline, Oil & Lubricants, the n~ figure will be $28,800, <br /> do~m $6,700 <br />On Page C-63 Motor Vehicle Parts, the n~-~ figure will be $21,700, down <br /> $5,300 <br />The new Central Garage Total is $223,570 <br /> <br />Councilman GrJamn moved the approval of the revisions read by Mr. Ellman, <br />as set forth above, liotion seconded by Councilman Epstein, and unanimously <br />carried. <br /> <br />RECESS: <br />At this Juncture~ 12:10 A.M., Mayor l%aufman announced a brief recess and <br />at 12:15 A.I4. the Council reconvened. <br /> <br />Councilman Lieberman moved the follo~ng amendment to the Budget: on Page <br />C-41, which is under Parks and Recreation, Account 3510~ under Capital Out- <br />lay, paragraph E-3.9, includes $13,600 for Tennis Court improvements at <br />Heman Park and at Flynn Park - he thinks these improvements can be delayed <br />inasmuch as these item are not paying for thyselves and he doesn't think <br />they are essential to City service at this time with an "austere budget" - <br />that this $13,600 be removed from the requirements for 1970 and the budget <br />reduced accordingly. The motion failed for lack of a second. <br /> <br />Councilman Werner proposed the following amendment to the Budget: On Page <br />C-12, the deletion of one Clerk I; on Page C-33, the deletion of one Clerk <br />I; on Page C-18, propose that the Clerk II, 10 months, be .transferred over <br />to the Pla~m~tng and Development which is on Page C 33; propose on Page C 8, <br />one'Clerk I b~{~a~pferred over to the Finance Department, C-12. He ex- <br />plained that the sen~99~is proposal is that one of the Clerks I in the <br />Human Resources Depart~ent'~'' could be used, cooperatively~ with the Finance <br />Department with the deletion of one Clerk I - the one Clerk I in the Human <br />Resources Department can be used in both departments resulting in deletion <br />of one Clerk I out of the Finance Department - deletion of one Clerk I in <br />the planning and Development Department~ resulting in the Planning and De- <br />velopment and the Loan Specialist section using one Clerk II jointly. Mayor <br />Kaufman said he is wondering whether this is not getting into the area of <br />administration it might be more appropriate if Councilman Werner wanted <br />to move to dele% the money which is used for those offices. Councilman <br />Werner said he has no objection to deleting the money corresponding to <br />the Job he referred to. The motion failed for lack of a second. <br /> <br />Councilman Epstein said she has two requests for reports: there is a re- <br />quest from the Gannondale Neighborhood Association for installation of <br />light standards on .~uherst, Cornell and Bemiston~ and she asked for a report <br />on lighting on those streets. In response to her inquiry whether funds <br />would be available from the Contingency Fund to do this work, she was ad- <br />vised there might have to be a choice between University Heights and Univ- <br />ersity Terrace, but if the situation warranted, the funds could be made <br />available. <br /> <br />Also, Councilman Epstein said in the Capital Investment Five Year Plan <br />there appeared the item of a Tower for the Fire Department and she asked <br />for a report on usage of a Training Tower, possibilities of sharing it <br /> <br /> <br />
