Page 3 <br /> <br />Special Session 869, Minutes <br />June 26, 1967 <br /> <br />a bid on a General Electric product at a total cost of $3075. <br /> <br />~e City P~nager reviewed the matter and recommended that under the circum-' <br />stances the contract be awarded to the Motorola Communications. <br /> <br />Mayor Kaufman asked whether the bid specifications were tailored for ~otorola <br />and the City Manager explained that they are to some extent - he would sup- <br />pose it is possible for some company to manufacture interchangeable equip- <br />ment, but apparently none have done this. <br /> <br />Councilman Lieberman said he has checked into this matter (since he is in a <br />position to do this at McDonnell Aircraft, with some communications experts <br />who have handled the Space Program fairly successfully) and it appears to <br />him that tile Motorola product is in a class by itself. He said he whole- <br />heartedly recommends that the Council take the recommendation of the admin- <br />istrative forces, and Councilman Lieberman moved approval of award of the <br />contract to the Motorola Communications as set forth above. Motion seconded <br />by Councilman Woods and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />BIDS FOR SUPPLYING ONE TRUCK - FORESTRY DIVISION: <br />City Manager Henry stated that bid proposals have been received for the <br />furnishing of a truck to be used by the Forestry Division, and although <br />fourteen truck dealers were solicited, only three responded. The adminis- <br />trative forces recommended that the contract be awarded to the Placke <br />Chevrolet Inc. for a Chevrolet Truck in the amount of $3567.50, this being <br />the lowest and best bid. <br /> <br />Following brief discussion, Councilman Epstein moved that the recommendation <br />of the administrative forces be approved and that contract be awarded to <br />the Placke Chevrolet Inc. as set forth above, this being the lowest and <br />best bid. 1-fotion seconded by Councilman Grimm and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />APPLICATION OF iff{. ALLEN ROTH, ROTH DRUG CO}~ANY, INC., FOR LICENSE TO <br />SELL 5% BEER: <br />City Manager Henry stated that an application has been r~ceived from-~Ir. <br />Allen Roth, president of Roth Drug Company, Inc., d/b/a/ Forsyth Drug, <br />for a license to sell 5% beer, by the package, at retail, at 7337 Forsyth <br />Boulevard. Upon inquiry whether the applicant is present, ~rs. Roth came <br />forward and stated that she is appearing in place of her husband who could <br />not be present. ~1rs. Roth stated they are receiving requests for 5% beer <br />from their customers and would like to be in a position to accommodate <br />them. <br /> <br />Councilman Bamburg moved that the license be granted. Motion seconded by <br />Councilman Lieberman and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />APPLICATION OF KROGER STORE FOR LICENSE TO SELL ALL KINDS OF INTOXICATING <br />LIQUOR: <br /> <br />City Manager Henry stated that although an application has been received <br />from ~. William H. Verser, ~Ianaging Officer of the Kroger Company, a <br />corporation, for a license to sell all kinds of intoxicating liquor, by <br />the package, at retail, at the new Kroger store located at 7270 Olive <br />Boulevard, it now appears that they will not be ready for July 1st opening <br />as they originally intended. City Manager Henry expressed the view that <br />it would be advisable to wait (on the matter of the liquor license) until <br /> <br /> <br />
