Session 1725, Minutes
June 8, 1998

Donald Morrison, 6834 Roberts, said that when he first moved here two years a go he
thought that the street would be a much nicer street without a bar. When the bar
closed, the neighbors quietly celebrated. As a new citizen he is opposed to the bar on
his block.

Mary Price, 6853 Roberts, is very concerned because this area used to be clean, but
now it is dirty. Most 'of the people in the area are senior citizens and can not afford to
move. She is opposed to this liquor license.

Mary Buchanan, 6816 Roberts, said that if the neighborhood would have been
canvassed before the application and restaurant ever opened, then the owners would
have known how they felt. Three or four owners have operated that location with bad
results and history tends to repeat itself. She is opposed to the liquor license.

Louis Supic, 282 Cove Landing Dr., said that the neighbors have reason to be
concerned, but they should not deny Mr. Montgomery the license, because of
something that he was negligible for. He owns the property on the corner of Ferguson
and Raymond and the residential lot behind the property on Roberts Ave. He asks
Council to favorably consider Mr. Montgomery's application for a liquor license.

Gladys Tyson, 7347 Trenton, said that Mr. Montgomery's establishment was family
oriented and that troublemakers are not tolerated. She said it was a wholesome place
and deserving of Council's approval. She is in favor of the liquor license.

Junetta Bohler, 6824 Roberts, said that nobody would want a tavern in their
neighborhood. She said that they have a neighborhood block group, and the tavern will
bring in troublemakers. They do not want to move or run away. There is a great deal
of trash at the tavern. She is opposed to the liquor license.

Rebecca Ackles, 6831 Roberts, said that a nice restaurant in this area would help them
out, but just liquor for senior citizens is not good. She is opposed to the liquor license.

Corinthia Bishop, 6819 Roberts, said when you walk out of the front door of her house,
she sees trash, liquor bottles, mattresses, etc. They asked Mr. Ollendorff, the City
Manager, to come out and look at the area, which he did. She does not know how long
the new owners have been there, but she has seen no improvement. She is opposed
to the liquor license.

Brewer Harvey, 6827 Roberts, does not want liquor in her neighborhood. She has
young grand and great grandchildren, and the owners, no matter what they say, can't
control who come in and what they are going to do.
