<br />Session 1555, Minutes <br />October 21, 1991 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Resporxlln:1 to Mr. Price, Mr. Ollerxlorff said at any one time there might be <br />40 or more applications for home rehab loans, which are processed only as <br />money becomes available and the County is sure the applicants qualify. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman asked the size of the loans, and Mr. Ollerxlorff said he thought <br />they ranged from $2000 to $10,000. with the average about $7500. Mrs. Schu- <br />man said if all the money from forestry was put into the loan program, that <br />would still sel:Ve only a few more families. Mr. Ollerxlorff agreed. Mayor <br />Majerus added that if a citizen applying for a loan has an acute emergency, <br />the City will work with the County a:rrl do its best to alleviate the problem. <br /> <br />All voted Aye. <br /> <br />Ms. Becker retmned to the microphone a:rrl asked about the Parkview Gardens <br />Police allotment. Mr. Ollerxlorff said it applied only to that area, includ- <br />ing the Loop, but it could be exparded to the northeast area, if desired. <br /> <br />PERSONNEL REroRr <br /> <br />'Ihe Personnel report for the week erxling October 19, 1991 was received a:rrl <br />ordered filed. <br /> <br />CITIZEN CDJJMENI'S <br /> <br />Mr. carl Cibulka, 1421 Coolidge, said he erxlorsed Mr. Price's efforts to make <br />parents responsible for their children's actions, a:rrl Mrs. Thompson's idea of <br />police walking beats in neighbo:rhoods so they get to know the residents, but <br />his main concern was the promotion and use of alcohol and tobacco. He said <br />alcoholic beverage and tobacco c:arrpani.es are very powerful., but people are <br />gradually realizing their products are harmful and are beginning to IrDVe away <br />from them. He said Americans are worried about excessive alcohol use, and <br />want to see the tax on alcohol doubled and advertising greatly restricted. <br />He suggested that as these companies become less successful in the u. S., they <br />are IrDVing into Third World o::>UI1tries a:rrl making it worth the government's <br />while to allCM' their sales.
