Mr. Ollerrlorff read <br />Council's policy on liquor licenses am also referred to the applicant's let- <br />ter asking for an exemption from the usual six-m:mth waiting period. <br /> <br />'!he applicant, Mr. Ibuglas Anders, 11342 GaJ:den view Iane, said the exerrption <br />request was made because the main business will be a restaurant with only a <br />service bar, not a full bar. He said Mr. Hiroshi Seki, the restaurant opera- <br />tor, previously managed restaurants with a liquor license. If an exemption <br />is not possible, a reduction in the six-month waiting period would be welcome <br />In response to Mr. Adams, Mr. Anders said Mr. saki managed a restaurant with <br />a liquor license in st. IDuis for three years. <br /> <br />Mr. Price said other applicants have also stated that not having a liquor li- <br />cense for six months would be a financial hardship; however, Council has been <br />quite adamant about insisting on a waiting period. <br /> <br />Mr. Adams said the intent of the policy mainly applies to operations with no <br />experience as a restaurant or bar. He said exceptions have been made on oc- <br />casion for operators with experience am few previous problems, am that was <br />not inconsistent with Council policy. He felt the record of this operator <br />speaks well for him, am that he will be running a restaurant am not a bar. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman agreed that Council has consistently followed the policy with <br />the exception of applicants who have a histo:ry of successfully operating a <br />restaurant with a liquor license in the st. I.Dui.s area, but there has not <br />been a total exemption, only a reduction in the waiting period. She m:wed <br />that the applicant be advised to return with his request October 1, without <br />prejudice. Mr. Price seconded the motion. <br /> <br />In response to Mr. Schoamer, Mr. Ollerrlorff said the police check was on the <br />applicant, Mr. Anders, and the police will also do a check on Mr. Seki and <br />his operation of the restaurant in st. IDuis. <br /> <br />Mr. Anders said the restaurant was not yet open. Mrs. Schuman amerx1ed her <br />motion so the applicants may return, without prejudice, three months after <br />the restaurant opens.
