Mayor Majerus said Ms. Mueller will be missed. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REroRl'S <br /> <br />INTRODJCrION OF CDMMUNITY PARINERSHIP STAFF <br /> <br />'!he city Manager said University City received a grant last year from the Of- <br />fice of SUbstance Abuse Prevention for a multi -use demonstration proj act now <br />known as the Community Partnership of University City, 8630 Olive. Mayor Ma- <br />jerus introduced staff members Daphne Walker-'Ihoth, Carol vaughn, and Gwen <br />Bueckendorf, whose function is to coordinate drog and alcohol prevention pro- <br />grams into a focused cormmmity-wide effort. Ms. Walker-'1hoth said the Conunu- <br />nity Partnership staff will assist University City for the next five years in <br />its efforts to prevent drog abuse. She noted that the university City Dnlg- <br />Free Schools OUtreach Team has attracted a great deal of community support <br />for drug education programs, and the eonununity Partnership will build on and <br />expand that effort, as it looks forward to working closely with that group. <br />She said the Partnership was delighted to be in University City. <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus thanked the group, adding that the City was thrilled about this <br />large grant, which should provide an excellent opporb.mity to set up a model <br />system to cope with substance abuse problems. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman said the staff members were looking fo:rward to meeting with in- <br />dividual councilmernbers, and each brought unique strengths to the team ap- <br />proach necessary to address the problems present in the comrmmity. <br /> <br />Mr. Ollerrlorff thanked Mrs. Schuman for her leadership and Mayor Majerus for <br />her support of this program, and said all looked fo:rward to great results. <br /> <br />LIOOOR LICENSE - 640 NORI'H MCKNIGHI' ROAD <br /> <br />'!he City Manager said Council is asked to act on a license to sell beer by <br />the drink at the Imperial Garden Restaurant, 640 N. McKnight. At the last <br />meeting, council requested additional infonnation, and Mr. Ollerrlorff report- <br />ed that the applicant has been operating the restaurant at least since last <br />fall, and an investigation indicated nothing negative in his background. <br /> <br />Mrs. Schuman moved approval. Mr. Schoomer seconded the motion, which carried <br />unani.1oously. <br /> <br />BUIX;ET IUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />'!he City Manager said Council has always been very open regarding public com- <br />ments on the City budget, and several years ago a second public hearing was <br />added so there would be an opportunity for public input prior to the budget <br />study meetings on the fiscal 1991-92 budget beginning July 1. <br />
