IDaciinJ areas shall be reviewed for the entire project am shall meet
the requirements of Sec. 34-50.5 of the Zoning Code.

Mr. Ollendorff said the applicant agrees to the corrlitions am understands
that a separate zoning application am review is needed for the southwest
area at McKnight am Kingsbw:y. Approval was reconnnended.

Mrs. Ruth Beman, 8640 W. Kingsbury, who lives adjacent to #1 McKnight Place,
reminded Council of her letter to Zoning Administrator Frank Hill, in which
she strongly objected to the proposed parking lot to be built in conjunction
with the nursing home at #1 McKnight because it would be directly across from
her home.

Mr. Ollendorff asked Mrs. Bennan to return to the Council meeting in June
when Council considers the rezoning of the lot in question, am to a meeting
a month or so later when Council will either approve or disapprove the plan
for that lot. He said the issues raised by Mrs. Beman in her letter were
totally appropriate--screeni.ng, landscaping, etc., am that the plan should
protect her property. Mrs. Bennan agreed to return.

Mr. Alex Feldman, 1233 Backer, asked the City to ensure that as many trees as
possible are preserved when the addition is made to #1 McKnight. He also en-
couraged the inclusion of some Medicaid beds in the nursing facility.

Mr. O1arles Deutsch, one of the applicants, came forward. Mayor Majerus said
she worried there may be extra demands on the City's ambulance sel:Vice when
the nursing care facility opens. '!he City accepts Medicare payments for this
sel:Vice, am she was concerned the possible additional calls may be a drain.
Mr. Deutsch suggested there might be fewer calls since the facility will be
acute care. In connection with paying full charge for ambulance sel:Vice, he
said residents may feel that through their rates they already pay their pro-
portionate share of real estate taxes am are entitled to sel:Vices equal to
other residents. He felt a nursing home would not require sel:Vices any more
costly than a single-family home. Mayor Majerus suggested more discussion on
this later, but noted that meetings on next year's budget will begin shortly,
am the City must be extremely careful not to accept additional responsibili-
ties unless the resources are available to pay for them. Mr. Deutsch hoped
the nursing home will provide more revenue than it costs the city.

In response to Mrs. '.!hompson, Mr. Deutsch said the plans were not far enough
