Regular Meeting <br />March 28, 2005 <br /> <br /> <br />OATH OF OFFICE <br /> <br />Patrick Butler took the Oath of Office to serve on the Board of Appeals. Leland Barber, <br />took the Oath of Office to serve on the Arts and Letters Commission. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams thanked these new members for serving the City in this capacity. <br /> <br />Agenda Item # 1 - CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff said these four items had been discussed at length previously and <br /> <br />appears to be ready for approval. <br /> <br />1.) University City Civil Service and Work Rules <br /> <br />Civil Service rules and work rules were amended a year ago by the Civil Service <br />Board following a review directed by City Council. All changes generally <br />advance our commitment to diversity, strengthening drug and alcohol <br />enforcement, and add specific concealed firearms rules in accordance with new <br />state laws. The record does not show a formal City Council vote following your <br />review in March 2004, so confirmation is requested at this time to make <br />everything official. <br /> <br />2) Vacating Forest Park Ave. North of Maple Ave. in Cunningham Industrial Park <br /> <br />The City Manager recommended setting 6:30 P.M. on Monday, April 11 in these <br />Council Chambers to hear and consider the request to vacate a narrow dead-end <br />right-of-way going north from Maple Ave. one-half block east of Sutter Ave. <br />Forest Park Ave. is surrounded by buildings and property owned by Universal <br />Sewing Supply Company which has plans to construct an addition over this right- <br />of-way. There is no public need for this street. <br /> <br />3) Olive Enhancement Phase II <br /> <br />The tabulation of bid proposals for the above named project is as follows: <br /> <br />Gershenson Construction Co. $745,220.00 <br />R.V. Wagner $849,162.18 <br />Engineers Estimate/Grant Application ($1,122,000.) $638,539.83 <br /> <br />Funding for this project is from Federal and city General Revenue Funds. Mr. <br />Ollendorff recommended that this project be awarded to Gershenson <br />Construction Co., (subject MoDOt’s concurrence) for their low bid of $745,220. <br />The City is responsible for 21.2 % of the total estimated cost which is <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />
