Regular meeting June 27, 2005 #8 - New Fitness Equipment for Centennial Commons Bids were obtained for $38,000 in fitness equipment in September 2003. We contracted with Commercial Fitness Solutions for their lowest bid which most closely met the Department specifications of the five bids received. The Parks Department would like to order additional equipment which will match the existing equipment. Commercial Fitness is the only local supplier of the Cybex equipment line. Mr. Ollendorff recommends Sole Source approval in the amount of $36,802.00 for the equipment. #9 - City Manager Vehicle Invitation for Bids were issued for purchasing a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu for the City Manager. The following responses were received: Company Bid Price Don Brown Chevrolet $16,236.00 Jim Butler Chevrolet $15,898.00 Mr. Ollendorff recommends purchasing this vehicle from Jim Butler Chevrolet for the low bid meeting specifications of $15,898.00. Mr. Sharpe moved adoption of the consent calendar. Ms. Welsch seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. CONSENT CALENDAR ITEM #4 - Demolition Bids – 7430 Delmar Blvd. New bids were received for the demolition of 7430 Delmar Blvd. and are as follows: Diamond “H”, Inc. $16,400.00 E.C.E. Incorporated $25,000.00 Mr. Ollendorff recommends that the bid from Diamond “H”, Inc. for $16,400 be accepted. A prior bid expired, so new bids were required. Mr. Wagner moved approval. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion. Ms. Welsch said that she understands that the majority of Council will vote in approval of this demolition. She truly does understand the reasons behind that decision. She would like to vote against it because she has been told by an architect that this is a structurally sound building and it goes against her grain to vote for a demolition of a structurally sound building. Mayor Adams said that this building has been in this state for many years. Residents in Page 5
