Regular meeting
June 27, 2005

Ms. Welsch moved approval. Ms. Brot seconded the motion.

Mr. Wagner said that he believes that a pizza house should have beer. He would like to
suggest a compromise period from six months to three months. Mayor Adams said that
the reason why Council has done this is to make sure a restaurant is a restaurant and
not anything else. Mr. Wagner said that was fine, but he still wants to amend the
motion.

Mr. Wagner amended the motion to approve under a three month waiting period. Mr.
Sharpe seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.

The original motion carried unanimously, as amended.

AGENDA #3 - Fire Station Lease

During the time that expansion and rehab of our Fire Station on North and South takes
place we need to rent suitable facilities to house the Fire Department personnel and
equipment. Mr. Ollendorff recommended approval of a 12-month lease at 8678 Olive for
a price of $2,800 per month. The building is sufficient for housing, storage, and office
purposes as well as inside storage of two ambulances and the fire pumper assigned to
this station. The price is reasonable and the building is the most suitable available in
the west half of University City.

Mr. Sharpe moved approval. Ms. Welsch seconded the motion.

Ms. Brot asked if this building will be set up to get trucks in and out real fast. Mr.
Ollendorff said that they are in the process of getting a fair price. There are
modifications that will need to be made, including raising the ceiling on the door; it
needs to be widened and raised. They need to add a shower and a stove. It looks like it
will be in the $10,000-$15,000 range. Mr. Ollendorff, responding to Ms. Brot, noted that
this need is included in the 05/06 budget, but not at this high of a figure. He is trying to
get the prices down. Ms. Brot said that we must have the fire protection and she is sure
that Mr. Ollendorff will do his best to bring the price down.

The motion carried unanimously.

AGENDA # 4 - Sculpture Loan Agreements

City staff has developed an excellent working relationship with the Gateway Foundation.
The foundation wishes to install Fish on a Bicycle in Lewis Park and Big Horse at
Centennial Commons. You will recall that this organization installed two sculptures last
year in the Loop and recently rehabbed the Rain Man piece.

Page 8
