You can get tickets through the <br />Library/Historical Society by contacting Ed Nickels at 726-6168. <br />The 2009 University City Park-athlon: <br />The Parkathlon is a fun, outdoor event <br />designed to accentuate and celebrate University City's remarkable park system. <br />Although the name "Parkathlon" may sound like a grueling event for elite athletes, it <br />actually consists of a variety of games and activities that park goers of all ages can <br />enjoy. Sponsored by the University City Parks Foundation, <br />(www.ucityparksfoundation.org), this year's Parkathlon will be held on Saturday, <br />th <br />September 26 from 9am until noon at the Heman Park soccer field, (just east of the <br />Centennial Commons). The cost is $5.00 to participate and includes participation prizes <br />donated by Parkathlon sponsors. Proceeds will help to fund various U City park <br />improvements. This is a day not to be missed! <br />This year's activities will include: <br />1 Mile Fun Run <br /> - at Heman Park's jogging trail, <br />"Art in the Park" <br /> - participants will paint miniature lions to help celebrate the <br />th <br />100 anniversary of the U-City Lions gate <br />"Captain Target" golf game <br />– kids can test their budding golf skills <br />Football Target Toss <br /> – score points by throwing a football at the target <br />Soccer Ball Target <br /> – score points by kicking a soccer ball at the target <br />Adult-Child Tennis Tournament <br /> at Heman Park tennis courts <br />FREE <br /> exercise class demonstrations including: <br /> Cardio Kickboxing, <br />o <br /> T'ai Chi, <br />o <br /> Zumba, <br />o <br /> Senior Stretch and even <br />o <br /> Belly Dancing! <br />o <br />Each class is available at the Centennial Commons. <br />Also join us after the Parkathlon from 1PM– 3 PM for Starlight Concert Series favorite, <br />Satin, a Motown revue musical experience! Many CALOP-funded projects have won <br />national and international excellence awards including the current St. Louis Filmmakers <br />Show case. In 27 years, CALOP has awarded nearly $2 million to more than 200 <br />independent producers. The Higher Education Consortium (HEC-TV26) premieres <br />CALOP programs Sundays and Thursdays as part of its prime time Liquid Light <br />broadcast. Programs are also cablecast at 9 PM Fridays on Charter Communications’ <br />Regional Access Channel 18. Many CALOP programs are available for loan in DVD and <br />VHS format at the U.
