Regular meeting
July 18, 2005

actions. What is needed first is for Council to agree to add them to the Agenda,
so they can be discussed.

Mr. Sharpe made a motion to add the two items to the Agenda. Ms. Brungardt
seconded the motion. The motion of approval to add the two items to the Agenda
carried unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM #8 – Change Orders for Fire Station improvements.

The Fire Station was in need of adding bathroom facilities, putting in a larger door so
fire truck can enter, sealing of doorways and other related types of work. The total
amount of money needed is $14,070. This is the minimum amount needed to use this
building as a fire station for seven to twelve months.

Mr. Wagner made a motion for approval. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion.

Mr. Adams has a question as to whether traffic lights had to be put up by temporary fire
station. Mr. Ollendorff said he would look into it tomorrow.

The motion carried unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM #9 – Change Orders for the City Hall renovation project

Mr. Ollendorff reported that there were two Change Orders.

1. On the general outline for the project, included was so called “smart electric”
panels. This is our computer controlled energy efficiencies devices which turn the
lights on and off at set times. It was definitely discussed by the City Council,
architects, and engineers, but they were not clearly put into plans and specs. The
result was that the bidder did not include the “smart panels” in the bid. To add
these “smart panels” would be an additional $53,000. Architects and engineers
assured Mr. Ollendorff that this was a very fair price and knowing that Council
wanted this, he approved the Change Order and is seeking Council confirmation.

2. Plans and specs called for 600 amp electrical service. Final review of all the
electric issues in the City Hall project, especially the heating/cooling elements, led
the engineers to conclude that the correct size of the service should be 800 amps.
The additional cost of upgrading the amps would be $31,000.

Mr. Wagner made the motion to accept the Change Orders. Mr. Sharpe seconded the
motion.

Mr. Wagner wanted to know if the Change Order amounts were to come out of
unallocated accounts in this year’s budget. Mr. Ollendorff agreed.
