<br />The mission statement would be to explore the development opportunities that <br />could be created by doing a joint redevelopment project at I170 and Olive. <br /> <br />Ms. Ricci asked who developed the paperwork that was presented to Council <br />and is this the same that the Olivette Council will receive. She asked if this task <br />force would have the ability to advise the City but not to bind it and Ms. Feier <br />agreed. Mr. Price stated that he or Mr. Sharpe would be interested in serving on <br />this task force. Ms. Ricci stated that she would be happy to be the liaison at the <br />meetings and encouraged citizens to become involved. <br /> <br />Mr. Price moved to establish the task force with Olivette for the Olive and I170 <br />redevelopment that would consist of one Councilmember, one Plan Commission <br />member and two citizens from each City, University City and Olivette. <br /> <br />Ms. Ricci asked the City Manager to post this information in trying to acquire any <br />citizen interested in being on the task force. It was agreed that the Council would <br />have citizens’ names at the August 31, 2009 Council meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked that a citizen representative should be from the area of <br />redevelopment. <br /> <br /> <br />The Council voted unanimously for approval of the consensus of the task force <br />and its formation. <br /> <br />8. <br />Boards and Commissions Appreciation Dinner <br /> <br />Ms. Feier stated that the City does not do a very good job in celebrating the <br />many volunteers of the City and thought that combining the celebration of the <br />th <br />100Year of the Lions with acknowledging the many volunteers on the <br />commissions. <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Ricci said that the City has a local sales tax option on the ballot because of <br />the budget constraint plus taking money from the Economic Development Tax <br />and to have a party on City money is not appropriate in any sense. She stated a <br />party in celebration of the volunteers would be great and should be done by <br />having a pot-luck. Ms. Ricci stated that when planning a budget that is meeting <br /> <br />its needs on a future unknown contingency, it is really a negative budget and not <br />a balanced budget. Ms. Ricci felt that having a party at any expense to the City <br />was not appropriate. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe suggested the possibility of the many businesses in University City <br /> <br />being able to contribute to such an event for the volunteers. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br />Jen Jensen, 706 Pennsylvania <br />Ms. Jensen stated that she brought the subject of the commission members no <br />longer have a yearly or bi-yearly recognition dinner. She stated that she was <br />merely pointing out that with the economy the way it is presently, it was not <br />necessary to hold a $5,000 retirement party for the Mayor and she was sure he <br />would agree with her. Ms. Jensen said that she discussed with Ms. Feier other <br />options as City pins, paper weights, coasters, etc. Ms. Jensen told the City <br />Manager that a letter of appreciation and a simple Thank You was certainly <br /> <br /> <br />
