Session 1679, Minutes <br />September 30, 1996 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />RESOI,UTION - METROLINK <br /> <br />Mayor Adams moved approval of a joint resolution (with the cities of Brentwood, Clayton, Maplewood, <br />Richmond Heights, Shrewsbury, and Webster Groves) which endorses the expansion of MetroLink along <br />the CMT/I-170 right-of-way. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. The reso- <br />lution will become part of the permanent record. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR (SIX ITEMS) <br /> <br />Picnic License - Our Lady of Lourdes Church (#1). Approval was recommended for a picnic liquor li- <br />cense for a special event at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Forsyth at Asbury on October 5, 1996. <br />Such licenses have been granted many times in the past without negative consequences. <br /> <br />Purchase of Ice Control Salt and Hauling (#2). Invitations to bid on approximately 39,800 tons of salt <br />for University City and 32 other communities involved in the cooperative salt purchase program were <br />sent to eight distributors, with the following response: <br /> <br />Cargill Salt <br />Gunther Salt <br />Morton Salt <br />Akzo Salt <br />North American Salt <br /> <br />$28.58 per ton <br />$28.50 per ton <br />$22.75 per ton <br />$19.50 per ton <br />$18.22 per ton <br /> <br />North American Salt's low bid of $18.22/ton (a 47/: increase over last year) is recommended for Univer- <br />sit5, City's purchase of 1,875 tons. Unloading and hauling costs were combined in order to determine <br />the lowest aggregate bid for transporting salt from a barge on the riverfront to University City and 32 <br />community storage facilities. Three terminals and four hauling contractors submitted bids, and Lange- <br />Stegmann's low combined bid of $3.10/ton (15/: less than last year) for hauling and unloading was rec- <br />ommended. The total delivered price to University City is $21.32/ton for an estimated total of $39,975. <br /> <br />Tree Removal Contract (#3). Bids on removing 25 dead or dying trees from various locations through- <br />out the City were received as follows: <br /> <br />Gamma Tree Service <br />Custom Tree and Lawn <br />Ray's Tree Service <br />T & L Tree Service <br /> <br />$14,920 <br />$14,440 <br />$11,835 <br />$10,692 <br /> <br />Acceptance oft & L Tree Service's low bid of $10,692 was recommended. <br /> <br /> <br />
