Mr. Wagner seconded the <br />motion, and all voted Aye. <br /> <br />SPECIAL RECOGNITION - MARIAN BARNHOLTZ <br /> <br />Mayor Adams asked Ms. Marian Bamholtz to come forward. He said it was a special privilege to honor <br />Ms. Bamholtz for her unparalleled 18-year service as a member of the University City Redevelopment <br />Authority, and prior to that, a member of the Park Commission for eight years. He said the City is in <br />her debt for her many years of exemplary service. Ms. Anne Kessen Lowell, Executive Director of the <br />U.C.R.A., presented Ms. Bamholtz with a beautiful basket of flowers, a lovely plaque, and a miniature <br />statue of a lion. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR (EIGHT ITEMS) <br /> <br />Annual Order - Office Supplies (#1). Invitations to bid on discounted office supplies for the 1996-97 <br />fiscal year were sent to 11 companies, with the following response: <br /> <br />BT Office Products <br />American Looseleaf <br />Boise Cascade <br />County Office Supply (woman owned) <br /> <br />27%-88% discount <br />30%-80% discount <br />45% discount <br />25% discount <br /> <br />To provide a good comparision, the discounts were applied to the top 50 items purchased by the City, <br />with consideration given to price, ease of ordering, and availability of computer connections. The rec- <br />ommendation is to contract with BT Office Products, which provided the best prices after discounts, the <br />most user-friendly program, and online access to their order processing computer network with training <br />at no additional cost. The estimated cost for office supplies for next year is $29,000, with an option to <br />renew for the second year. <br /> <br />Eastgate Basketball Court Repairs (#2). Invitations to bid on repairing the basketball court at Cabanne <br />and Eastgate Drive were sent to seven contractors, with the following response: <br /> <br />Krupp Construction <br />Byrne & Jones Construction <br />Frazier-Davis Construction <br />Busy Bee Construction <br /> <br />$7,818 <br />$7,071 <br />$6,245 <br />$6,O45 <br /> <br />Budgeted amount was $7,000. It was recommended that the low bid of $6,045 from Busy Bee Con- <br />struction be accepted. The Park Department concurs. <br /> <br /> <br />
