<br />Regular meeting <br />October 10, 2005 <br /> <br />Ms. Brungardt said that the $75.00 fee was an attempt to manage the use of the pool by <br />non-residents. <br /> <br />Resident Comments: <br /> <br />Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel <br />She was in attendance for another subject and was totally surprised by this. She was <br />sure that it also would be a big surprise for all who use Heman Park swimming pool. <br />She was opposed to outsiders being permitted in the morning. She said that Heman <br />Park Pool was University City's residents' swimming pool. Postpone this vote and let <br />the rest of the swimmers come here to speak on this topic. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner moved to table so that Council could hear more discussion and was <br />seconded by Ms. Welsch. The vote was carried unanimously. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM # 8 - Epstein Plaza Construction Project <br />Mr. Ollendorff and Park's Department recommended approval of shade structure by <br />Washington University School of Architecture students, to be constructed on city owned <br />island south of Epstein Plaza. <br /> <br />Washington University Seniors of the School of Architecture spoke on the project. This <br />was a design/build project course that they have been given the opportunity to do for <br />University City, which is to be funded by a long time & devoted University City resident. <br />The project will take place by the mail drop off boxes in front of the Post Office. A <br />display model was presented for viewing. <br /> <br />Ms. Colquitt asked if automobiles making a left turn there would have their view blocked <br />from this structure. The students assure them that this would in no way block any <br />motorist view. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner asked about the durability of structure and materials to be use. Student <br />said that the main material to be used would be treated redwood. Mr. Wagner asked <br />about where the garden would be relocated and it was explained. <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch asked as to who would be responsible for upkeep after project was <br />completed. Mr. Ollendorff said that University City would be the owners of the structure <br />once completed. <br /> <br />Ms. Brot complimented Washington University for doing such wonderful projects as <br />what was done for Crown Center and hoped the students could see our excitement and <br />love for our City. <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff thanked the University City resident that was funding this project. <br />Page 8 <br />
