Regular meeting <br />May 22, 2006 <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S CALENDAR <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM #1 – The Consent Calendar <br /> <br />#1 — 2006 – 2007 Police Uniforms <br />Mr. Ollendorff recommended acceptance of lowest bid from Leon Uniform <br />for $36,661.30. He stated that this was the only bid received from the 8 <br />bids sent and they had supplied good service and did not increase their <br />price from last year. <br /> <br />Mr. Price moved for acceptance of the Consent calendar and was seconded by Mr. <br />Wagner. Motion was unanimously approved. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AGENADA ITEM #2 — Budget Public Hearing <br /> <br />The Public Hearing was opened at 6:40 pm. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS: <br /> <br />Ralph Bowser, 8050 Teasdale Ave <br />Mr. Bowser, as president of the Historical Society was fearful of a cut in the funding of the <br />D&M Group that has worked diligently on the event. <br /> <br />Richard Dockett, 6844 Crest Ave. <br />Mr. Dockett requested equal distribution of funds received from taxes for all three wards. <br /> <br />Wayne Munkel, 7543 Gannon <br />Mr. Munkel requested that the budget include incentive pay for the police and fire fighters <br />to encourage them to stay and not leave for higher pay at another municipality. He also <br />wants the Council to include a higher City contribution into the employees’ pension plan. <br /> <br />Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel <br />Ms. Glickert suggested the budget include money for a bus to pick up senior citizens in <br />the five Senior Citizens complexes in University City and take them to Heman Park pool. <br />Currently, some senior citizens no longer drive and therefore can’t use the municipal pool. <br />Ms. Glickert that the buses taking the children to camp could pick up the senior citizens <br />and take them to the pool. Ms. Glickert said that it is important for senior citizens to get <br />out and socialize. She also felt that the Director of Parks and Recreation needs to have <br />office at Centennial Commons and not at City Hall in order to be accessible when <br />needed. Ms. Glickert would also like to see all Boards and Commission members receive <br />a copy of the City Charter that they swear to uphold in the Oath they take. <br /> <br />Joan Botwinick, 511 Westview Dr <br />Ms. Botwinick would like to have $100,000 added in the budget for utility assistance for <br />University City low-income residents who find it very difficult to pay their high utility bills. <br />The Public Hearing was closed at 6:55 pm. <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />
