Regular meeting <br />May 22, 2006 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM #3 — Chicken Permit Ordinance Public Hearing <br /> <br />Mayor Adams declared the Public Hearing open at 6:56 p.m. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS: <br /> <br />Kolby Bray-Hoagland, 7120 Washington <br />Mr. Bray-Hoagland spoke in favor of the existing Chicken Ordinance as it was a means to <br />supply fresh healthy food at a low cost. He also said the chickens do not promote bird flu. <br />Mr. Bray-Hoagland said that there is a100 times more of a chance of catching in on an <br />International flight from Asia. He also spoke of additional advantages chickens supply. <br /> <br />Michael Pisoni, 7500 Milan Ave <br />Mr. Peoni spoke in favor of the Chicken Ordinance as his neighbor has chickens and they <br />have presented no problems to him as a neighbor. The chickens have become <br />neighborhood pets to the children in the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Carl Hoagland, 7120 Washington <br />Mr. Hoagland appreciated the Council passing the Ordinance a year ago joining <br />Kirkwood, Webster Groves, Clayton and the City of St. Louis, along with other <br />municipalities. He said that the current ordinance requires inspections, so healthy <br />conditions are present. He felt minor changes should be made to the property size <br />required. As now the requirements eliminated some participation of residents with <br />smaller lots. He encouraged people to read the Friday’s article in the Post Dispatch <br />stating that it was too early to worry about the “Bird Flu” <br /> <br />Peter Steuterman, 7118 Washington Ave. <br />Mr. Steuterman was in favor of the Chicken Ordinance and is a neighbor to residents <br />owning chickens. There have no problems. <br /> <br />Nova Felton, 8031 Noel Ct. <br />Ms. Felton asked for termination of the Chicken Ordinance, for fear of the possible deadly <br />pandemic of Bird Flu. <br /> <br />Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel <br />Ms. Glickert was not in favor of the “Chicken Ordinance” due to the disease that <br />allowingchickens in University City could bring. <br /> <br />The Public Hearing was closed at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> Conditional Use at 6329 Delmar <br />AGENDA ITEM #4 — <br /> <br />The Plan Commission and Mr. Ollendorff recommended approval of Crazy Bowls and <br />Wraps be approved at site offering a diverse array of quality restaurants. <br /> <br />Mr. Price moved for approval and was seconded by Mr. Sharpe Jr. The motion was <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />
