interest in one or more of these areas. The Committee meets on the second <br />Wednesday of each month at City Hall at 6:30 to 8:00 PM. It engages in dynamic <br />governance whereby most work (research, collaboration with other environmental <br />organizations, subcommittee work) is done in between meetings and presented for <br />approval at the monthly meeting. This is a working committee and members are <br />expected to devote substantial time to the effort. <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION - one opening <br />The Historic Preservation Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Zoning <br />Administrator in matters concerning applications to designate historic landmarks; to <br />review proposed changes within an historic district; to consider applications for <br />permission to demolish and for conditional use permits for a historic landmark or within <br />an historic district. They establish other rules and regulations consistent with the intent <br />and purpose of the Historic Landmarks and Districts ordinance. The Commission has <br />nine members appointed to three-year terms. Members should have special interest, <br />education and/or experience in historic preservation. Members must include at least <br />two architects and one attorney. Members may not hold any other elected or appointed <br />position in City government. The Commission meets at 7:00 PM on the third Thursday <br />of the month. <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION – two openings <br />The Traffic Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council. The <br />Commission studies traffic and parking problems and advises the Council and City <br />Manager on same, carries on educational activities in traffic matters, and makes <br />recommendations of ways and means of improving traffic conditions and administering <br />and enforcing traffic regulations. The Commission has ten members, including seven <br />citizens and a member of the Police department, a representative of the Public Works <br />Department, and a member of the City Council. The term of office is three years. The <br />Commission meets at 6:30 PM on the second Wednesday of the month (except <br />August). <br />INFILL REVIEW BOARD – one opening <br />The IRB shall examine applications for residential subdivision and building permits to <br />determine whether the proposed project will achieve general conformity with the <br />prevailing style and design of the surrounding neighborhood and is conducive to the <br />proper residential development of the City. The Board shall consist of seven members, <br />all residents of University City. <br />PARK COMMISSION – one opening <br />The Park Commission is an advisory body whose duty is to survey and plan for an <br />adequate system of parks and recreational facilities, approve Park Department rules <br />and regulations, and advise and investigate problems in administration of the parks. <br />There are nine members on the Commission, and all must have been residents for two <br />years prior to appointment. The Park Commission meets at 6:30 PM on the fourth <br />Tuesday of the month (except December).
