to explain to the Council why it is necessary. He knows that the pumper is old but also
knows that there are not many miles on it and what we have is enough to handle the public
safety issue.

Mayor Adams stated that one thing with fire equipment is you don’t buy them tomorrow as it
takes six months to one year before it is delivered.

Mr. Wagner agreed with Mr. Sharpe that it is a public safety issue and should be done in
April.

Mr. Price said he would like it on the April ballot.

The vote would take place when the bill is introduced.

10.
The recycling marketing program
Ms. Feier stated that the program is proceeding and the door hangers are going out the
week of January 25. Council has received examples of brochures in the Council’s last
packet. The door hangers will be focused on residents who don’t recycle and posters will
be going up along Olive Blvd in the bus shelters.

11.
Parental Responsibility ordinance
Ms. Feier will have additional information for the January 25 meeting.

Mr. Price talked about an ordinance that Normandy High School has that has made a big
difference. He stated that parents need to be accountable for their kids.

12.
Cunningham Park development/expansion and a TIF update.
Ms. Feier will have additional information for the January 25 meeting. Ms. Feier stated that
she could have the fire chief present for that meeting also.

Mr. Price stated that it was brought to his attention that there was an opportunity to expand
Cunnigham Park into Wellston which would be a great situation for University City. He said
it would help secure the City’s farthest eastern border. It would then be valuable having
businesses in this corridor instead of vacant lots and houses. This would be a great
opportunity for University City to work with the County, Pagedale and Wellston to make this
happen.

13.
The East-West Gateway plan was approved by SEMA on 12/14/09
The City Manager provided an update in a letter to the residents on the approval of the
East-West Gateway plan. The City is continuing to push SEMA as they did since July to get
the East West Gateway approval. Mr. Price asked the City Manager to give an outline of
what has happened so far on the Wilson Ave buyout, which she did.

14.
The municipal parking lot #5
The City Manager said the lot by the Post Office is completed and is the first permeable
surface lot in the city. It is in conjunction with the green practices that Mr. Wagner is talking
about and also a financial benefit with MSD new rates.

15.
A-1 Market Food and Package Liquor.
This was the final action item.

11
