Each Firefighter, Paramedic Firefighter, and Paramedic Fire Captain agrees to, when <br />needed, replace the items encompassed by this allowance, with similar items which meet the <br />specifications and approval of the Fire Chief. <br />Each Firefighter, Paramedic Firefighter, and Paramedic Fire Captain further agrees that <br />should they depart the service of the Fire Department, for any reason, they will pay back to the <br />City the proportional amount of that year’s allowance, and that amount can be deducted from <br />their final paycheck or refund of their pension contributions, such deduction shall be optional <br />with the City. It is further agreed that the Firefighters, Paramedic Firefighters, and Paramedic <br />Fire Captains shall commence maintaining, supplying and laundering the items covered by this <br />allowance from and after June 30, 1982. <br />Article X: APPENDICES AND AMENDMENTS <br />All appendices and amendments to this Memorandum shall be numbered or lettered, <br />dated and signed by the responsible parties and shall be subject to all provisions of this <br />Memorandum. <br />Article XI: PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT <br />The City shall continue to make such provisions for the health and safety of the <br />employees and to provide devices and other equipment for the benefit of the employee. <br />Firefighting gloves, pants, coat, hood, helmet and boots are included in these items and devices. <br />Article XII: HEALTH INSURANCE <br />The City will contribute the same monthly premium amount of the Health Insurance <br />Plan(s) that it presently pays for other regular full-time employees of similar eligibility status. <br />The City will withhold from any participating employee’s paycheck an amount to be paid over to <br />the Dental Health Maintenance Organization, Inc. on behalf of said employee. The City shall <br />not be held liable nor contribute to said Dental Plan, and should an employee withdraw from the <br />Plan the City will no longer make any payroll deductions for that employee for that plan. <br />Article XIII: REDUCTION IN FORCE <br />The City will strive to maintain a staffing of at least 15 personnel per crew. However in <br />the event of a reduction in force, employees will be laid off by seniority regardless of job <br />classification. Seniority is defined as length of continuous service from latest date of <br />employment. No new employee shall be hired until the laid off employee has been given an <br />opportunity to return to work. <br />6 <br /> <br />
