Bill 8404 became Ordinance 6186.

BILL NO. 8405 - PROVIDING FOR THE LIGHTING BY ELECTRICITY OF THE
STREETS, AVENUES, ALLEYS, AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES IN
UNIVERSI'r'Y CITY, AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER ELECTRIC SERVICE
REQUIREMENTS, BY CONTRACT, SETTING FORTH THE TERMS OF THE
PROPOSED CONTRACT THEREFORE BETVVEEN THE CITY AND AMEREN
UE COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, AND PERMITTING SAID
COMPANY TO ERECT, OPERATE, AND MAINTAIN POLES, LINES, WIRES,
CABLES, TRANSFORMERS, AND OTHER APPLIANCES IN THE STREETS
AND ALL C~THER PUBLIC PLACES, NECESSARY FOR AND APPROPRIATE
TO THE PERFORMANCE OF SAID CONTRACT AS DESCRIBED HEREIN.

The bill was given its second reading.
The bill was given its third reading.

Mr. Munkel movee adoption. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion.

Responding to Mr. Schoomer, Mr. Ollendorff said that he did not believe that this
contract would become null and void if the state passes the deregulation legislation.
This deals primarily with the City's purchase of electricity. This is separate from the
franchise ordinance that covers their right to sell electricity in University City and to use
the Rights of Ways. The franchise agreement would be more affected by the state
laws, than this onE, but he was not positive.

Responding to Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Ollendorff said that this would only entitle us to get
electricity from AmerenUE at the point that are city street light system is plugged in.
The city is still responsible for the maintenance of the light systems that the city owns.
Most street lights are owned by UE, and this contract covers them. This does not cover
the street lights the city owns, other than bringing the electricity to our system.
