Session 1708, Hinutes
October 13, 1997

16

Mr. Salter, University Forest Nursing Care, said that this facility had been around
for ten years. This expansion will be used for adult day care. This expansion will
allow them to posture themselves to be successful in the advent of managed
healthcare.

Responding to Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Salter said that they were surprised about the
concern the neighbors had that the employees were taking up all of the spaces on
the street, and consequently he has informed their employees not to park on the
street. Mr. Salter continued by saying that they were willing to accept all the
conditions as set forth.

The all-aye motion carried unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM NO. 9 - SITE PLAN AMENDMENT - 6951 O! IVE:

Mr. Ollendorff said that he has a request for an amendment to the site plan for
Hollywood Video at 6951 Olive. They had accepted, at the last meeting, all of the
conditions except that they wanted to be allowed to have two driveways on Olive.
Mr. Ollendorff had recommended against that, because he felt the City should
continue to try and limit the egress and ingress points on Olive in that area. The
applicant has asked the State Highway Department to approve the two driveways
and the answer was in the affirmative. The applicant then went to the Traffic
Commission, per Council. Unanimously, the Traffic Commission voted that they did
not object to two driveways. The applicant believes it is very important for
conducting business and attracting customers. Mr. Ollendorff believes we should
still try to limit the number of driveways.

Responding to Mr. Sharpe, Mr. Ollendorff said the only thing being discussed is the
number of driveways. The applicant has agreed to all the other conditions. Mr.
Ollendorff briefed Mr. Sharpe on the situation.

Mr. Joseph Porcelli, Director of Real Estate for Hollywood Entertainment, 11901
Olive Blvd., said that Mr. Ollendorff did an excellent job articulating what he was
going to say. Being in an impulse media business, access is extremely important.
The customers need to know that they can get in and out quickly and easily. The
second driveway is very desirable and it was approved by the State and the City's
Traffic Commission.

Responding to Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Porcelli said that at many of their locations, they
have even more curbcuts - such as in Chicago. The tract of land is not big enough
to work with any other alternative.
