Session 1708, Minutes October 13, 1997 CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS: Mr. Ollendorff asked to add an item to the agenda. Mr. Schoomer moved approval of the addition. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. CONSENT CALENDAR (6 ITEMS): # I - Snow and Ice Control Salt: Bids were received by the City of Chesterfield for supplying approximately 1,500 tons of salt to University City as a part of the cooperative salt purchase program. The cost of the salt has been established at $19.87 per ton. This is an increase of $1.65 per ton over last year. Mr. Ollendorff recommends obtaining the sale from the City of Chesterfield under the cooperative salt program for a total of $29,805.00. #2 - Contract Leaf Collection: Bids have been taken for assisting with leaf collection by private contractors. Mr. Ollendorff recommends contracting with Pace Co. for a total of $32,640 based on their good workmanship last year and low bid. He further recommends contracting with Gerber Co. for a total amount of $4,680 during the short period of time when leaf collection is at its heaviest. The total cost requires a transfer from contingency of $8,000. We are gearing up to do a more timely job than we have been able to accomplish in past years. #3 - Tree Purchase and Planting: Bids for furnishing and planting 150 trees and shrubs have been obtained. Invitations to Bid were sent to five area nurseries (small businesses) and tabulated as follows: Baxter Farm Waldbart Nurseries $15,600.00 $10,850.00 The City Manager recommends awarding the contract to Waldbart Nurseries for their bid of $10,850.00. #4 - Roof Repairs - City Hall Annex, Police Dept., Fire Dept., and Central Garage: Bids were received to make roof repairs as detailed above. $53,200 was budgeted for this repair work. Four roofing companies were invited to submit bids. The estimates were tabulated as follows: Lakeside Roofing Ferguson Roofing $52,340.00 $51,964.00
