Session 1310, Minutes Page 7
June 21, 1982

It was recommended that Sieveking, Inc., be awarded the gasoline contract on its
bid of $0.977 per gallon regular, $1.015 per gallon unleaded, $0.994 per gallon #2
diesel, and $1,074 per gallcn X61 diesel, for a total estimated cost of $187,846.50.
Mr. Ollendorff noted that the prices were subject to escalation or de-escalation as
the supplier's costs changed.
Mr. Levy moved acceptance of the Sieveking bid. Mr. Adams seconded the motion,
which carried unanimously.

PETROLEUM PRODUCTS FOR CENTRAL GARAGE
Mr. Ollendorff said the City solicited bids from twelve area suppliers for the fur-
nishing of petroleum products for the Central Garage, with the following responses:

Sieveking, Inc, (8 no bid items) $11,482.55
J. D. Streett & Co., Inc. (5 no bid items) 14,720.09
h The Kiesel Company (2 no bid items) 16,483.28
Warmann Oil Company (1 no bid item) 16,721.22
Geldbach Petroleum Cc.,, Inc. (3 no bid items) 18,145.38
The major items are as follows, including a comparison with last year's costs (all
prices per gallon):
1981-82 1982-83
Motor oil $2.75 $2.59
Gear lubricant 3.76 3.71
Anti-freeze 3.38 2.83
Mineral spirits 1.60 1.50
Automatic transmission fluid 2.89 2.83
Hydraulic oil 2.57 2.44
It was recommended that contracts be awarded as follows: J. D. Streett and Co.,
Inc., $6,666.25; Warmann Oil Co., $5,727.80; the Kiesel Company, $2,437.78; and
Geldbach Petroleum Cc,, Inc., $1,200.00.

Mr. Levy moved app--Ao-al, Mr. Schoomer seconded the motion, which carried unani-
mously.
DISCUSSION OF COUNCIL POSITION ON 5/8C SALES TAX REFERENDUM

Mr. Ollendorff said this item and the two following were not on his agenda, but had
been requested by councilmembers for discussion. Mrs. Metcalfe said she had asked
that this item and the following one be brought up on the Council floor for consid-
eration. Although several councilmembers' views on the 5/8~ sales tax referendum
(to be voted on at the August 3 election) were known, Mrs. Metcalfe said it should
be made clear to others that the Council had not yet reached a consensus, if that
in fact is correct. Also, since this matter is to be discussed and presumably voted
on at the St. Louis County Municipal League meeting the following Thursday, she felt
the Council should deride how it wishes to vote at that meeting or if it should take
no position.
Mr. Lieberman reviewed the mechanics of the voting process at County Municipal League
