Session 1308, Minutes Page 14
May 24, 1982

looked into. Mrs. Metcalfe asked if this matter could be postponed until more in-
formation could be gathered. Mayor Mooney concurred. Mr. Adams and Mr. Lieberman
withdrew their motions, although Mr. Adams reiterated that it was very important
that the Council make a statement to the County Executive concerning the transpor-
tation tax.

Mrs. Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel, asked to address the Council. Mrs. Glickert asked
what kind of publicity there would be with regard to the benefits which will accrue
to University City with the successful passage of the $600,000,000 bond issue. She
thought most residents were not aware of what this was all about, and she volunteer-
ed to help publicize it.
RESOLUTION

Mr. Ollendorff said that the Council had requested at the last budget meeting that
a resolution be prepared in support of a nuclear freeze.
Mr. Levy introduced and read the resolution, which is attached hereto. Mr. Adams
seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. There-was brief discussion concern-
ing the resolution and opposing viewpoints, with Mr. Levy pointing out that the key
elements of the resolution were the words "verifiable" and "bilateral."
APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR OF HEALTH

Mr. Lieberman complimented the City Manager on the appointment of Dr. Donald Strom-
inger, the new director of the University City Board of Health. All agreed that
this was an excellent appointment, with the Mayor noting that Dr. Strominger had
been sworn in recently at a brief ceremoney at City Hall.
ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Mooney adjourned the meeting at 11:00 p.m.

Dolores A. Miller
City Clerk
